THREE SERVICES -- ONE PHILOSOPHY

A development consultancy for the 21st Century.

Animals suffer from all the disasters that beset humans, who also depend on animals for food, jobs, culture and friendship.  Without their animals, many people go from poverty to desperation.  Americans of all economic levels risk their lives to protect animals and in the developing world, poor families do the same to protect  their livestock, from Haiti to Myanmar.

Solution:  A balanced assistance system for animals and people in economic stress.

New Shelter Cluster KMZ (Google Earth) file!

Friday, March 26, 2010 4:12 PM  From:

Dear All,  On our website, you will now find a KMZ file containing the following layers:

  • Emergency Shelter and NFI Distribution locations (for those distributions reported with GPS coordinatates or spontaneous settlement IDs (SSID)).
  • Needs per commune (GoH data, Feb 28th 2010)
  • Remaining needs gap per commune, based on total distribution reported to date (as of 26 Fen 2010)
  • Other submitted agency data on agency managed camps, agency operating areas and locations
  • Planned transitional shelter locations submitted by agencies (so far covering just the Leogane, Gressier, Petit Goave and Grand Goave areas)
  • Administrative boundaries
  • Spontaneous settlements master list as compiled by OCHA (v2) containing their corresponding SSID number.
Click on any feature to access more details of each, including distribution dates, agencies, and items. This resource will allow agencies to locate the SSID of the camps in which they are conducting distributions, determine when section communal they are working in, and also figure out the GPS coordinates of their distributions (just hover the mouse over a location, and you will see the coordinates at the bottom of the map window).

Coming soon:

Next week we will be posting a short user guide for Google Earth, showing you how to create new data points or areas, and how to send them to us for inclusion in this data set. Thanks,
Emese Csete  Information Manager / GIS, Shelter/NFI Cluster, Haiti, Website: www.shelterhaiti.org
