Useful Material and Activities: Animal Welfare and Development: An article on the link between sustainable development an animal welfare by Larry Roeder, now working as CEO of IFRescue. Published in Monday Developments by InterAction, October, 2009. Protecting Animals and People: This brochure was developed in a partnership with UNESCO, the UN/FAO, the IFRC and other international bodies, as well as some NGOs. It was created by a working group to be of value to anyone wants to advocate for a system approach to development -- unifying the treatment of animals and people. The intent of the leadership of the group was there be no copyright nor intellectual property rights attached, other than to give the authors credit, and anyone can copy and use this material. In that way, the product would be of value to the most people at no cost or obligation. Operational Space for NGOs: This product was first created in 2004 when the CEO was with the US Department of State as an aide to development NGOs, then refreshed a number of times thereafter. This is the 2010 version, which is designed to assist development NGOs. Climate Change One of the biggest threats to farms, shelters and other organizations that depend on animals is climate change. We recommend that if you are in civil society, you join Climatecaucus.net, one of the most important UN related alliances of NGOs on this topic. Same papers follow.
